St. Andrew’s Youth Newsletter

(STAY)

Greetings to All,

Hot, hazy, lazy summer days.  It just seems to be moving too fast and with that, September is fast approaching.

Exploration Sundays begin on Sunday September 12, at which time we return to 9am and 11am worship.  All youth will meet at the beginning of each service in the youth pew for announcements and praise worship then on to Room 2 for our gathering together.  Wearing your name tag and bring your Bible is a must, as usual.

Youth Connection will be the last Saturday of the month, same timing 4:45pm to 7:30pm, for the most part unless we do an activity in the afternoon or the hall needs to be used by another group then we will go to a lunch meal time.  You will be notified in advance of any changes.  For your calendar here are the dates for our youth to meet:

September 25, October 30, November 27, December 18, January 29, 2011, February 26, 2011, March 26, 2011, April  30, 2011, May 28, 2011 & June 25, 2011.

The youth planning committee (YPC) first meeting will also be held on Sunday September 12th after 11am worship, with a focus on our upcoming Youth Connections.  Also, I will be looking at areas where we can participate and serve outside of our church community as a Youth group as well as working toward a fund raising event for a planned weekend retreat .

We will continue to work toward building our foundation of trust, respect and hospitality toward and for all.

Our first serving mission as a Youth group:

St. Andrew’s Mission & Outreach ministry will be preparing dinner for Evangel Hall on Sunday September 12th and our STAY youth have been asked to join in as a group to serve dinner and participate in worship time.   This is a great opportunity for our youth to serve as a unit and to witness how other individuals who through difficult circumstances are in need of community support.

Carpools will be set up.  Parents who would like to come to help drive and participate are most welcome, just speak with me on a Sunday morning or call the church office at  416-438-4100 before September 1st .

Evangel Hall Ministry is..........

A community of compassion and a place of hope. For almost 100 years, Evangel Hall Mission has been reaching out to socially isolated, marginalized and impoverished individuals as well as the homeless population in downtown Toronto. Men and women come to ehm for guidance and support, food and clothing, counselling and assistance to services. We provide material, emotional and spiritual help but ehm is much more than a helping hand; it is a supportive community that breaks the bonds of loneliness, isolation and despair. Everybody is welcomed with a warm smile and kind heart.

“Something amazing is taking place here. Participants have a sense of ownership at ehm. We feel we belong here and care for this place and one another”. ~ a drop-in participant.

The youth room will be closed on Sunday September 5th, Labour Day weekend, since I will be away on holidays.

Sunday September 12th is a busy day and I look forward to seeing your happy faces and hearing all about your summer.......

God’s Blessings,

Elizabeth ReynoldsJ

Youth Director
